Writing

Take a look at my current projects and some of my previous articles.

Raven & Hound

I am seeking representation for my adult historical fantasy novel Raven & Hound, a retelling of Irish mythology similar to the works of Madeline Miller. Ireland's national epic, The Cattle Raid of Cooley, tells the story of the hero CuChulainn. However, my novel flips the script and tells the story of the prophetess who could have prevented his death and a catastrophic war, if only they would have listened to a woman's voice

Queen of the Goths

I am currently writing an adult retelling of Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus from the perspective of Tamora, the Queen of the Goths. Considered one of the bard's darkest plays, this work traditionally critiques the Roman Empire, yet also plays into the barbaric stereotypes of the Celtic peoples Rome often collided with. In my novel, we hear the 'barbarian's' story and shine a different light on Tamora's thirst for revenge against Rome.

Pursuit

I am currently writing a retelling of The Pursuit of Diarmuid and Gráinne, another beloved Irish myth. Often considered to be one of the origins of the classic love triangle, this story originally watches a young girl utilize her coercive nature to escape an unhappy marriage with her paramour, only to end up resigned to her fate with her lover's killer. My story is a reinterpretation, knowing that this strong-willed heroine would not accept such a fate, and comments on the fluid nature of early Irish religion.
